Glen and LaJeanna's BioGlen and LaJeanna Pilant have been ardent music supporters for over twenty years. Whether you call it Folk, Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter, Americana, AAA or Texas music, the Pilant's have been in and around it since they met in 1978. Their first date was at the venerable Houston folk club, Anderson Fair, which led them to the Kerrville Folk Festival a few short weeks later. They were married up on Chapel Hill at the Folk Festival the following summer and have been back every since combining their love of music with their love of the outdoors, camping and volunteerism. When the Folk Festival performers arrive at Kerrville, the Pilant's are often the first faces they see since both volunteer their time as drivers and at the V.I.P. check-in booth. The San Antonio House Concert scene is an outgrowth of the Kerrville Folk Festival as an attempt to carry the great music and atmosphere of the famous Festival campfires back into the year round daily city life. When Glen started his career as an Air Traffic Controller in 1987, the Pilant's left Texas for a few years but they got back as quick as they could. When they arrived in San Antonio in 1991 they learned about the Urban Campfires House Concert series that had started up a couple of years earlier. The Pilant's jumped in with both feet and in 1994 found themselves running the series in their living room. In 1998 they decided to sell their house in town and build out in Bulverde where they've started the Hill Country House Concert series. Glen was born in Wyoming and spent his teenage years in Arizona. After leaving the Air Force in 1976 he was driving back to Arizona when he stopped to visit relatives in Houston. The pull of the vibrant Texas music scene and the boom town atmosphere of Houston were strong enough to convince him to adopt Texas as his new home. Using the technical training from the Air Force, Glen worked in various aspects of the television business before making a dramatic career shift and becoming an Air Traffic Controller in 1987. He now works at the San Antonio Air Traffic Control Tower where they provide service to the San Antonio International Airport as well as Radar services for the entire San Antonio area from Kerrville to San Marcus to Stockdale to Hondo and all points in between. LaJeanna was born in Oklahoma but her family relocated to Houston when she was just a toddler, giving her "Darn Near Native" status. After marrying, she forged a successful secretarial career until Glen started with the FAA and the family left Texas. She then started her new career as a stay-at-home Mom and Chief Wrangler of the Clan. Nowadays, in addition to her Chief Wrangler duties. LaJeanna runs a small startup business called Hill Country Pantry where she sells her handmade home and gift products as well offering personal secretarial services to small businesses. She's also active as a youth instructor and in the Adult Choir at the Boerne First Baptist Church. The Pilant's currently reside in Bulverde, Texas with their 2 children, Jessi and Travis, and assorted household critters. In addition to Folk Music, they enjoy gardening, camping and golf. |
