OK, so Hill Country House Concerts is STILL on a temporary hiatus. We're still trying to figure out if and when we're going to fire it up again. We miss it and all of you. You can still browse the website and join our email list for future concert announcements. We're accepting press kits at the address below for the future shows. BTW, the email address below is no good but if you click on it our real eddress will show up. This cuts way down on spam.

 Thanks,

Glen and LaJeanna

I'll try to explain how we book and I hope I don't come across as arrogant or snotty but we have been very lucky with our series and have reached a position where we can be pretty picky about who we book.

A LOT of folks want to play our series and pretty much everybody we've previously featured would like to come back. Unfortunately, since we only have about 12 shows a year, it's impossible to get in everyone that we'd like to book. I could name you at least 50 folks off the top of my head that we'd like to feature and another couple hundred if given time to think about it. We'd also like to bring back dozens of folks who have played for us in the past. That doesn't start to address all the terrific talent that we haven't even heard of yet. Too much music, too little time.

Our format is pretty much original singer-songwriters. Your basic guys/girls with guitars. Generally, folk, acoustic, Americana, contemporary singer-songwriter, or whatever we're calling it this week. We book singles, duos, trios and we've even had some 4 piece bands though the band can take up more room than the audience.

Our "Booking Policies"

We rarely book anyone that we haven't seen before. We rarely book anyone that hasn't been a featured main stage evening performer at the Kerrville Folk Festival or other major festivals. We rarely book anyone that doesn't have a couple or more CD's out. We rarely repeat performers at less than 2 years. We rarely use openers. Since it's our home and our series, we only book folks that we like, musically and personally. We don't book on name or reputation.

Of course, I say rarely to all these little "rules" because we sometimes break them for somebody that really blows us away. Of course, these "rules" can be limiting sometimes. There have been folks that we've passed on that suddenly became "stars" and were too big for our little series. Once I was dragging my feet on a booking for a few weeks, then the artist won a couple of Grammies. Of course, then it was too late. Stuff like that happens but as we like to say "We get 'em on the way up or the way back up."

The "Deal"

The deal is 100% of a $10 door and 100% of product sales, lodging in our home, a potluck supper and goodies for breakfast. Our capacity is 75 and we often reach it. We use a small tasteful PA with a Mackie board just to round out and balance the sound. We sound check at 6:00 PM and start promptly at 7:30 with 2 sets divided by the potluck. If you're booked we request 3-5 CDs and press kits and we'll distribute them accordingly. We mail to 8 print outlets and 5 radio stations. We'll provide you our press contact list if you have folks to do that for you.

Knowing all that, to be considered for a booking send your CDs and press poop to:

I'll check it out when I get a chance but don't expect a speedy response. It sometimes takes a while to get to everything we receive. Let me know when you're planning to come through Texas. We're generally booked 6 to 12 months in advance. Look at our schedule on the Future Concerts page. If we have something set within less than 3 weeks of the date you're looking for then don't bother. Our shows are at least 3 weeks apart, preferably 4. We'd prefer you not play any other San Antonio area gigs on the same trip. That includes Urban Campfires, IFFCC, Gruene Hall, Casbeers, the Lab, Cheatum St., etc. One exception would be church gigs the following morning. Austin is OK.

Come meet us out at Kerrville during the festival. We are part of "Camp Bite Me" out toward Chapel Hill. Basically on the other side of the road from Camp Cuisine. Look for the Hill Country House Concerts banner or the inflatable vampire (Vlad the Inflator) hanging in the trees. Also, keep us posted on any San Antonio area gigs that you have and we'll try to come out and see you.

Thanks for your interest and thanks for doing what you do.
