Hill Country House Concerts Press Release

(June '98)

After 4 successful years of hosting the popular Urban Campfires House Concert series in their San Antonio home, Glen and LaJeanna Pilant decided to sell their house and move North to the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Now that they have completed their move to the Bulverde area, they have started another House Concert series serving San Antonio and the surrounding Hill Country called Hill Country House Concerts.

If you have never attended a House Concert then you are in for a treat. Hill Country House Concerts is a means of presenting live music in an intimate atmosphere free from the smoke, noise and late nights often associated with listening to live music in a bar. The performers are all top notch, nationally known touring singer-songwriters. You have probably heard many of them and if not you have probably heard their songs. Past House Concert performers such as Ray Wylie Hubbard, Darden Smith, Shawn Phillips, Willis Alan Ramsey and Shake Russell are well known names while folks like Jon Ims, Steve Seskin and Fred Koller have written many of the biggest hits on commercial radio. The performers love Hill Country House Concerts because the audience is there to listen to the music and not to meet, greet and chat during the show. House Concerts have grown nationally to comprise a large portion of a singer-songwriter's tour.

The Pilant's do not make any money from the shows since all of the $10 per head donation goes to the performer. Instead, they do it for the love of the music and to support the performers. Regular attendees receive a monthly newsletter announcing the schedule via e-mail. You can sign up by sending a note to *

The monthly shows are warm and intimate and allow for interaction between the crowd and the performer. Concerts start at 7:30 p.m. with two sets of music and a potluck dinner break in between. Coffee, tea, plates, napkins, etc., are provided and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish for the potluck. You are also welcome to bring your own beverages if you prefer something stronger. The concert capacity is around 75 people with plenty of parking space.

Do yourself a favor and attend a Hill Country House Concert. More information is available by visiting them on the web at www.hillcountryfolk.com or by calling *.
